Negotiations................
I would like to share my experience because it might be of great help in case you
are planning to buy a mobile.
When I decided to buy a mobile I went to Mobile store to enquire about it and they
said the price would be 14990 and I asked them if it was negotiable the answer as
everyone would have expected 'A flat NOOOOOOO' and went on to claim that it was indeed
a best deal I could get.But my thrifty mind did not allow me to buy it right away
without enquiring in another shops.From there I went to planet M after seeing an
holder outside the shop(BTW I never knew that even Planet M is in to this business,
may be no one bothers to buy a original DVD's and music these days,thanks to
torrents).
I checked with them and even they quoted the same price and seeing my reluctance
the salsman immediately said that some discount scheme was there and I could get
it for 14000,phew!!!I did barly walk 25 steps and I was saving 990(Not a bad
amount in this era of recession where my comapny did not give me a hike of even
a rupee in past three years).Since I was not enough of cash I told him that I
would come later and before stepping out I again tried to negotiate the price
down further but this time was answer 'A flat NO' again.
I enquired about this price in my native place it was around 15990/-
(PS IN Maharastra the mobiles will be costlier because of more VAT
as comapred to one in AP).
Next day I discussed the same with my friends and they told me to wait since
'Valentines Day' was around and on that day I could get even more exciting deal.
So I eagerly waited for the day to come for the first time in my life.
It happended to be sunday and I woke up early in the morning to checkout
sunday Times and I saw another mobile reatiler Sangeetha Mobile were selling
it for 13790 so I decided go sraight away go to their shop and buy it but
thanks to our pro-Telangana protestors it was anotehr sunday and another
Hyderabad Band,I bubbled out all the bad words I could recollect to pay
RESPECT to our great politicians.
Next day I called up helpline and told them to connect me to PLANET M
(fortunatly I also told them that I was loking for a Balckberry Mobile)
so she said she would messgae me contact details of the few dealser.
Hardly I had hung up on her I got call from a dealer who said he
could offer the best price but it was more than what I was getting
from Planet M.Finally I called up PLANET M and told them that I was
getting it for 13790 and asked them if they could bring down
price further and she quoted final price as 13670,then I thought
enough of negotiations let go and buy it right away but what a luck
I got another call from one of the dealer and he offered me 13500,
quite bemused I again called up Planet M and told about this offer,
they said they can offer the same with TWO years of warrenty(
98RS per year are the normal charges)so at the end of the day just by making
5-6 calls I could save 500 more so next time anyone of is planning
to buy phone just talk to few dealers try to negotiate and then call
planet M or ezone or saneetha and tell them the best deal you have been
offer, one of them will give you the better if not the same deal and
at the end you are buying a phone from a reputed outlet rather than
buying it from some local deal whose credibility will always be in
doubt as compared with these outlets so be in the driver seat and
get the best deal out.Hope this will help someone of you.
